It's a new Photography Season!

I'm a tad late on this blog post, but in my defense, it had been so long since I had posted/checked the club blog & email that I couldn't remember any of the passwords!  I'm just digging a deeper hole here!  I will be working to get this blog back up to date.  Thank you for understanding that I am busy.

WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!  And if you are too, you should join us!  It's the fourth Wednesday of each month in the Taber Public Library!  It's fun.  It's cheap ($20) per year.  And it's a great way to get out with other artists and make some photographs!

Header Image Info!
A Big thank you to Nolan Day for his photograph that has welcomed members and visitors alike to our page for a full year!  What a beautiful image Nolan!  Any new submissions should be made to the Taber Photography Club FACEBOOK page, or send the image to taberphotographyclub@yahoo.ca.   We are hoping to switch the header image a few times through out the year~ so I need to get going on this.  Again, big Thank You to Nolan.  We have been proud to have you represent our club.

Next meeting; the theme is "macro" and we will be learning about Lightroom from the beautiful and talented Jan Tajcnar.  Can't wait Jan!  The meeting is on Nov.23rd @ 7pm at the Taber Public Library.  Please use the side entrance on the East side of the building.

The diagram below took hours of intense designing and creating in Photoshop.   I'm exhausted from the sheer quality of work that I put out (note the sarcasm)... the very least you could do is submit your photo for the header image.

I joke around a lot, but it would be great to get a submission from every member.

Sincerely,
The management.

Taber Photography Club | April Meeting

For this Aprils meeting and in celebration of Winters End; our club went out to the Prairie Tractor Museum in Picture Butte.  What a great spot for photography, or for a day out with your family.  There is something interesting for everyone.

We shared ideas and a few laughs as we captured images from in and around the different buildings!  As photographers we constantly try to "see the light" in a room.  How it falls across an object or a persons face or how it spills in from a window.  The museum was the perfect place to play around in the light and see what we could come up with.   If you are able; take the time to really look at the images.   Most of these photographs were long exposures, and were well thought out before the shutter was pressed.

What do you see in these photographs?  What kind of mood does the photograph portray?  Which image is your favorite and why?   Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments box below~ it's appreciated and lets us know you were here!

Thanks to all members who've submitted images!  I'm constantly amazed at the talent in the group; and at how different our perspectives are.

Enjoy!

march meeting. hands on macro

Here we are in March~ this monthly meeting focused our attention to macro photography.   Flowers and camera's filled the room of the library.   Together we had fun while we clicked away.

Macro is not my strong suit, but there are some in the group that really know what they are doing.  One member has created a macro lens from PVC pipe.  Yes, you heard me correctly.  I don't really understand it that well~ but it works. ;)  Who knew... down the plumbing isle you could find your next lens.   {necessity is the mother of all invention}

Thank you to all member who sent some photographs my way for this blog post!

Taber Photography Club | January Meeting

Well, there has been a few dull months on the blog.  And for that; I am sorry.  2011 here we come!

This month the photo theme was "abstract".   I am always amazed by the creativity and talent in our group, and marvel at the photographs that fellow members displayed.  :)  Great work everyone!

The meeting focused on the use of light in photography.  How to, how not to.   Jan and Gary both spoke and shared pointers on how to achieve good lighting, maximize the equipment you have, and what to buy and why.  I think everyone learned a lot!  Thank you both for sharing your knowledge!

After learning from the masters, we were able to play around with some equipment.  Everything from strobes and umbrellas (thanks Jan for hauling in all your gear), off camera flashes, on camera flashes, to diffusers and reflectors.  I hope that everyone gained some experience and had some fun along the way.

Here are some photo's of our evening, and a couple portraits!
Jeff, if you needed a head shot you just had to ask!  :)
